The Rangers’ pitchers blinked in the fifth, issuing a bases-loaded walk to force in a run and then following it by hitting the next batter to give the Cardinals a 5-2 lead.It was a stunning reversal of fortune for the Cardinals, who lost Game 5 in part because of a communications disaster with their bullpen and were down to their last strike — twice — in Game 6. But they rallied for two runs in the ninth inning in that game, did it again after falling behind in the 10th, and then won in the 11th on a home run by Freese.Freese, whose two R.B.I. in Game 7 gave him seven in the series and a record 21 in this year’s playoffs, was named the World Series M.V.P.
