he Ministry of Education has assured the integrity of the 2011 CSEC results has not been compromised amidst claims that some students had tampered with the online results which had been posted on the Caribbean Examinations Council website last Friday:
Ministry officials yesterday said while they had received reports of persons changing grades and printing the results with the CSEC logo before it had been removed from the CXC website — the original copy of the grade slip provided by the Ministry of Education to all school principals contains the true grades.Speaking with Newsday on condition of anonymity, well placed sources said although students may attempt to “fool” principals and potential employers — the grade slips from the ministry would reflect the true picture of how they did and if their online grades had been altered.
Newsday understands that the “technicality” which allowed students to change their grades resulted from a lack of stringent measures being put in place to ensure that persons were only able to view their results on the CXC website.In order to access their results online, students were required to input their centre number; candidate number; last name; date of birth and the period they had written the exam. Revealing that an investigation had been initiated by CXC at a secondary school in south Trinidad, sources were not able to confirm if it related to claims of results tampering.Education Minister, Dr Tim Gopeesingh on Sunday confirmed that CXC Registrar Dr Withford George had received reports that students had tampered with the online access provided by CXC — and that he had since removed the CSEC and CXC logos from the electronic page.
