                                                                                                                                                                              The University of Miami (informally referred to as UM, U of M, U Miami, Miami, or The U is a private, non-sectarian university founded in 1925 with its main campus in Coral Gables, Florida, a medical campus in Miami city proper at Civic Center, and an oceanographic research facility on Virginia Key.As of 2009[update], the university currently enrolls 15,629 students in 12 separate colleges, including a medical school, law school, and a school focused on the study of oceanography and atmospheric sciences. These colleges offer approximately 115 undergraduate, 114 master’s, 51 doctoral, and two professional areas of study. Over the years, the University's students have represented all 50 states and close to 150 foreign countries. With more than 13,000 full and part-time faculty and staff, UM is the sixth largest employer in Miami-Dade County.Research is a component of each academic division, with UM attracting $326 million per year in sponsored research grants. UM also offers a wide range of student activities, including fraternities and sororities, a student newspaper and radio station. UM's intercollegiate athletic teams compete in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, and its football team has won five national championships.
The University of Miami Faculty Senate Seeks a Legal Intern:
The Universityof Miami Faculty Senate is the vehicle by which the Faculty is authorized to share in planning and governance of the university. Through its committees and as a deliberative and legislative body, the Senate plays an important role in dealing with academic policies, new program and degree approvals, compensation and the annual budgets, reviews of chairs and deans, and countless other matters of collegial concern and interest. It is also the vehicle for hearing faculty grievances regarding rank, salary and conditions of employment, as well as appeals on tenure decisions.  The Faculty Senate is currently seeking a 3L law student as a legal intern to work 10-14 hours week at $10.00-12.00 per hour. The candidate must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision in a busy, quiet and small office that deals with sensitive materials. The intern must exhibit discretion and professionalism.
Job Description:
* Compose and edit correspondence;
* Sort, categorize and provisionally determine what should be archived or deleted; and
* Other duties as assigned.
