Country singer Chely Wright wed her girlfriend at a ceremony in Connecticut on Saturday.The "Single White Female" hitmaker met partner Lauren Blitzer last year, just two weeks after she 'came out' as a lesbian.The pair exchanged vows at Blitzer's aunt's house in front of their close family and friends, while both wearing white wedding gowns.Wright, who is Christian, and Blitzer, who is Jewish,\ opted for an inter-faith ceremony, with both a rabbi and reverend presiding over the nuptials.But the couple decided to hire a DJ to provide entertainment for their guests, rather than a band.Wright tells People.com, "Bands at weddings make me nervous.

Gay country singer Chely Wright is making plans to start a family after she marries her fiancee this summer.The Single White Female hit-maker, who made history last year when she became the first country star to 'come out' as a lesbian, announced her engagement to girlfriend Lauren Blitzer on Wednesday.Wright insists she can't wait to get married - so she can become a mother.
She tells EOnline.com, "It's been a really exciting time. We fit so well. And the best part is that our families go so beautifully together.""We want a family. The benefit of being out is I get to have everything that everyone else has. I do want a family and I do want traditional things. I just had no idea it would happen so quickly. I feel like it was a blessing from God."The couple plans to tie the knot in August.

Lesbian country singer Chely Wright has been tipped to take the top music prize at the upcoming Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) Media Awards.The singer rocked the world of country music in May by becoming the genre's first openly gay star, and now GLAAD bosses have recognized her with a nomination in the Outstanding Music Artist category for heralbum Lifted Offthe Ground.She'll go up against Scissor Sisters.(NightWork),AntonyandtheJohnson(Swanlights), Big Freedia (Big Freedia Hitz Vol. 1) and Kele Okereke (The BoxerCher and Christina Aguilera's movie Burlesque will face Easy A, The Kids Are All Right, The Girl Who Played with Fire and Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World in the Outstanding Film - Wide Release category, while Howl, I Love You Phillip Morris, La Mission, Undertow and Patrik Age 1.5 feature in the Limited Release section.In the TV categories, Glee is pitted against Greek, Modern Family, Nurse Jackie and United States of Tara for the Outstanding Comedy Series prize. For Outstanding Drama Series, the contenders are Brothers & Sisters, Degrassi, Grey's Anatomy, Pretty Little Liars and True Blood.The 22nd Annual GLAAD Media Awards will take place in New York in March, with additional ceremonies in San Francisco and Los Angeles later this year.
Chely Wright Lost Album Sales After 'Coming Out:

is convinced her career has suffered since she 'came out' as a lesbian, revealing her record sales have taken a nosedive and halved.The singer rocked the world of country music in May by becoming the genre's first openly gay star, but she admits her brave move has had a negative impact on her work.She says, "In coming out I had a feeling that it would diminish my wage earning, and that feeling was correct... It didn't help my career. My record sales went directly in half. If it appears from the outside in that it's helped my career, it could be because I haven't talked about the negative."The Single White Female hitmaker also admits she has been subjected to vicious threats since revealing her true sexuality: "My life has been threatened. I get nasty letters every day, 'I'm through with you Chely Wright, you're going to hell.'"But the 40 year old is adamant she has no regrets over her decision to 'come out' - because she no longer has to hide her relationships She adds: "I spent every ounce of energy hiding the fact that I was gay.""
